Former Manchester United midfielder Park Ji sung is hoping that the club can win all of their remaining Premier League games and qualify for the Champions League next season.
United are in danger of missing out on the premier European competition once again. Under the regime of Louis van Gaal, they only recently made it back to the Champions League in the 2015-16 season. However, the trail fourth placed Manchester City by a point. Even though United have been on a decent run of form of late, they have to rely upon other teams in order to achieve their objectives.
This is one factor that is affecting Van Gaal’s position at the club. Increasing speculation points out to the appointment of Jose Mourinho in the summer with Van Gaal being removed from his duties one year ahead of schedule. The Dutchman has a contract until the end of the 2016-17 season. Park Ji sung stated that United had an important attribute – consistency – as of now. The South Korean midfielder also spoke about his retirement days and if he misses football. Even though he has been remaining in the game in an ambassadorial role, Park Ji Sung admitted tomissing playing the game from time to time.
“They [United] still have a chance [of qualifying for the Champions League], if they perform continually well. This season is up and down quite often. It’s not good for the team. Hopefully they make it and I want to see Man United in the Champions League,” said the former United man. He is also closely following the World Cup qualifiers for the South Korean national team. “It’s tough [qualification]. We actually met Iran and Uzbekistan in the last qualification round [for the 2014 World Cup] and it’s not an easy group,” said the midfielder about South Korea’s opportunities.
